About Ally
I’m Ally Boyer, an Australian painter based on the coast of New South Wales. My work explores visual calm and perceptual softening within contemporary life, creating images that invite the eye to slow down and settle. Working primarily across landscape, I return to motifs of light on water, softened horizons, and the experience of meandering and noticing.
After several years of intermittent practice alongside my work as a social worker, 2025 marked the beginning of a sustained and intentional studio rhythm. This shift has allowed the work to deepen in both consistency and clarity of direction.
At its core, my practice offers visual relief; paintings that create space to pause, breathe and reconnect with the version of yourself that exists beyond the 9-5.

“I love Femme #2, it reminds me of the warmth, the love, the unity of a dinner table- the feeling that having a meal with family and friends brings. I love the colours that Ally’s used. I love pink, I love yellow. It brings me joy.”
Rachel H
“I really love this artwork, Coffee for Two #1. As a coffee lover myself, I just see this and immediately think of joy. It’s so beautifully blurred, with that texture as well- it’s just incredible and captures a moment of my everyday. It’s so detailed, yet leaves room for imagination. It’s really special.”
Terry
"I love the artwork, Flannel Flowers. I’ve always loved flannel flowers, and they’re around for such a short period of time. The colours that she’s used are just beautiful."
Amelia F
"I love it so much. I love that up close you can see all the brushwork, and then further away it becomes this dream-like texture. There aren’t many harsh lines in Ally's artwork, and it has this beautiful, dream-like feel. The use of negative space, the composition…the colours, muted but all in harmony together…I’m in love."
Jess L
"My favourite artwork is By the Banks. I love it because you can see the movement of the water and the shadows. The water is a happy place, and the colours are so peaceful. It’s just such a lovely work, and Ally is such a lovely person, so it’s just…loveliness."
